A stunning Victorian mid nineteenth century inlaid mother of pearl poker game tray. This is simply a breathtaking piece, A lovely Victorian gaming box set atop a tray for playing poker or bridge card game dated from around the 1850’s. These sets were originally made for the game called Bezique or Whist. Back from an era when there were smoking rooms and illegal gambling in houses of ill repute :) This card tray is beautifully crafted and mother of pearl inlaid with four chip containers for playing cards and placing bets. All containers are also inlaid with a different MOP scene on the covers. The four boxes that sit on the tray all filled with stacks of mother of pearl counters that are engraved with different card suites.

VERY IMPORTANT for these sets are the mother of pearl counters, that they are carved and polished to a very high standard and the amount you get with a set as many of these have been lost over time. There are 98 pieces in this set. The entire set is original and dates from the 1850’s . Condition is very good with wear with minor loss of the MOP consistent with age. Very usable or as an addition to your vintage games collection. A beautiful piece in every way.

The tray measures approx. 9.50 inches wide 7.00 inches deep.
