Art Nouveau tray, also called vide poche or ring tray. Vide poche literally means 'empty pocket'. Such a container is used to be on the dressing table in the bedroom or on a table by the front door.
The lady/man of the house could put her rings or keys in there before going to sleep. This tray is a good example of this, completely in style with the fashion of the time.
The ring/key tray was made around 1900, the time of the Art Nouveau period. This lovely carved Alabaster vide poche is carved in the shape of a bearded man with his open mouth depicting the bowl.
Measurement: 9.00 inches wide and 5.00 inches high. Condition: very good.
